Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria was defeated by his Mexican counterpart Juan Francisco Estrada and lost his WBA and WBO Flyweight title in a split decision held at Macau.
The Filipino champion was caught flat-footed in the last two rounds of the match receiving a series of punches from the Mexican. During the first five rounds, Viloria was able to unleashed his boxing prowess but in the later part from sixth to the 12th round he was put into a defensive position.
Viloria’s lost in Macau was the lone defeat of the Philippine team in the “Fist of Gold” fight card in the inaugural boxing match made possible through Top Ranks in the former Portuguese territory Macau.
Three Filipinos namely Melan Melinda, Dave and his brother Doddie Jr. scored an impressive TKO on their respective matches.
