Smart Gilas Defeated by Iran Final Score 60-77 Highlights Video

Smart Gilas ended their chance to win the gold of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, after they were defeated by the mighty Iranian Team with the final score at 77-60 in favor of the Iranians.

Iran will now moved on to the finals of the 2012 FIBA Asia Cup against the winner of the Japan vs. Qatar semi-final match-up. The Iranian have a balanced scoring with at least five players of Iran scoring in double figures.

The Smart Gilas on the other hand was led by Jarred Dillinger and LA Tenorio with 13 points. Gilas’ main man Marcus Douthit failed to make an impressive performance, scoring only with a total of 11 points. Jeff Chan also missed some of the most important basket from the three-point area scoring only with 5 points.

Larry Fonacier contributed also with 5 points, Ranidel de Ocampo and Norwood had 4 points, Villanueva added with 3 points.

The Philippines will now settle for the battle for bronze and a chance to make it to the top 3 and secure a spot for the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships. If the Philippines failed to make it the top 3, they will have to get the SEABA Championship trophy to represent the Southeast Asian basketball team.
