Another good news for the Filipino basketball community as our very own Filipino basketball star Japeth Aguilar have been invited for a two-day workout for another NBA Team this weekend.
The news spread out and Aguilar’s agent, Chris McGarry confirmed that two NBA teams have already contacted him about the 6-foot-9 Filipino forward.
Japeth Aguilar was earlier observed by the Western Conference play-off contender team, San Antonio Spurs for a try-out after his impressive performance in the NBA’s Bakersfield Jam.
One of the NBA Team was from the Eastern Conference while the other team was described by McGarry as one of the top five teams in the league, and plays in the Western Conference.
Aguilar will play a crucial role on his journey to the NBA which will put him on the record book as the first Filipino player to play in the NBA. The next couple of weeks will surely put him on the limelight of his career.
The NBA Training Camps will start this coming October, and teams are trying to fill the back end of their rosters. Each NBA Team are limited only for 20 players during the training camp.
Japeth Aguilar will showcase his experience as a former number 1 pick of the 2009 PBA Rookie Draft and at the same time playing an important role in the Smart Gilas Pilipinas. His contract have already expired earlier this year so the former WKU varsity player is trying his luck in the world’s most popular basketball league.
Hopefully Japeth will make it to any team in the NBA and proved once more that he is worthy to be called as the first pure-blooded Filipino who played in the NBA.
