Russia vs. Czech Republic Highlights Video: Euro 2012 Group A

Russia defeated the Czech Republic in a fascinating fashion during the opening match of the UEFA Euro 2012 with the final scoer at 4-1.

Alan Dzagoev opened up the scoring at around 15th minutes and followed by Roman Shirokov who made the score 2-0 in favor of the powerhouse team Russia. Dzagoev also scored with another goal at around 79th minutes. The 21-year-old made a record as the second youngest player to score twice at the European championships after England’s Wayne Rooney made at 18 in 2004.

Aside from Roman Shirokov’s goal for Russia at around 24th minutes, Roman Pavlyuchenko made another goal at around 82nd minutes.

Czech Republic’s Vaclav Pilar scored a fine goal early in the second period but was not enough to steal a win against the superior Russians. Their next game against Greece is very important to stay in contention with the Euro 2012 Finals.

Russia will book their place in the quarter-finals with a win over co-hosts Poland on Tuesday.
