Azkals vs. Malaysia FIFA International Friendly June 1 Match Preview
The Philippine Azkals will be playing against one of Southeast Asia’s football powerhouse, Malaysia for an international friendly match tomorrow, June 1, 2012. The Philippines vs. Malaysia FIFA-sanctioned international friendly will be held at the Stadium Shah Alam in Selangor, Malaysia.
The match will not only served as a preview for the upcoming 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup but the game will also served as a rematch on their previous game held in Manila wherein Malaysia were able to score a late goal for an equalizer.
The Philippines most successful campaign in the recently held AFC Challenge Cup wherein the Azkals finished third over-all, one of the reason why is it that the Philippines is now considered as part of the Southeast-Asian football powerhouse.
In an unexpected turn of events, some of the most popular and reliable Philippine Azkals mainstays will not be gearing up for the squad as they will face the depending 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup Champions.
Neil Etheridge, Phil and James Younghusband will not be playing for the Philippine Azkals. Neil will be serving his one-game suspension while the Younghusband has prior commitments.
The Philippines which got its highest FIFA rankings at 148th will also be playing against Indonesia on June 5 and Guam on June 12 in Panaad Stadium, Bacolod City. The three scheduled matches could affects the Philippine’s current world rankings.
